Dr. Ravneet Mehta was raised in Edmonton, Alberta. She attended the University of Alberta in Edmonton for her bachelor’s and graduated Dental school in 2008. Dr. Mehta was referred to the office of Dr. Van Berkel by one of our dental assistants, while still in school. The friendly family atmosphere and opportunity to grow made Van Berkel and Associates the perfect fit for Dr. Mehta.
Since starting practice in Edmonton, Dr. Mehta has acknowledged the growing needs of her patients. These include cosmetic treatments such as BOTOX, cosmetic and therapeutic, gingival grafts, and dental implants.
As always, Dr. Mehta seeks to make her patients feel comfortable at the dental office, with sedation, distraction or a listening ear! Dr. Mehta welcomes all patients, from the very young to the very experienced to her chair. She hopes to improve every patient’s oral health. As well to improve their understanding of their dental needs.
Dr. Mehta has joined Dr. Van Berkel in Ecuador to provide dental care for children in need.
When Dr. Mehta isn’t working in Edmonton Alberta, she loves to travel the world. She strives to understand every new place through their cuisine, arts, culture, and history. She also loves to try out local restaurants, and find new hidden gems in Edmonton.
Dr. Shilpa Sharma is a passionate dentist originally from India where she received her initial dental education. She moved to Canada about 10 years ago and graduated from the University of Alberta Doctor of Dental Surgery program.
Dr. Sharma combines international expertise with a deep commitment to patient care and education. Outside of dentistry, Dr. Sharma finds joy in exploring mountainous landscapes, which serve as both a source of relaxation and inspiration.
Known for a warm and empathetic approach, Dr. Sharma builds strong connections with patients, particularly enjoying the opportunity to educate young minds about oral health. Whether in the clinic or in the great outdoors, Dr. Sharma is dedicated to making a positive impact and ensuring every patient receives compassionate care.
Dr. Sharma treats all her patients with empathy and respect and makes sure that they are made to feel as comfortable as possible. She cares not just for the oral health of the patient but also for their general well being. She looks forward to working with you and helping you in improving your oral health.
Dr. Daniel Van Berkel is an Edmonton general dentist who graduated in 1983 from University of Manitoba with his DMD.
Dr. Van Berkel spent his first 4 years upon graduation with the Canadian Armed Forces upon which he was posted to Edmonton. With friends and relatives in the area, it was easy to make Edmonton his home. Soon he met a beautiful lady, Jo, who he would marry and together raise 4 wonderful children.
In 1985, Dr. Van Berkel also set up his own dental clinic. In the years to come, a wonderful team of dentists, dental hygienists, and assistants and other support staff joined the team.
Upon graduation and with a keen interest in orthodontics, Dr. Van Berkel advanced his knowledge in orthodontics by taking courses with Clinical Foundations of Orthopedics and Orthodontics. As Invisalign became another mode of orthodontics, Dr. Van Berkel became a certified provider of Invisalign. Expanded interests in the surgical aspects of dentistry, Dr. Van Berkel has trained in the the surgical preparation, placement, and restoration of implants mentoring under the highly regarded Carl Misch. Dr. Van Berkel also does other aspects of surgery including wisdom teeth. Dr. Van Berkel uses oral sedation and is certified in nitrous oxide sedation. As with all our dentists, Dr. Van Berkel has successfully completed Botox training; continuing education courses in endodontics, crown and bridge and periodontics.
For the last 15 years, Dr. Van Berkel has lead a team of dentists performing dental services to children in Ecuador. The mission was started by a member of the church Dr. Van Berkel attends - an orthopeadic surgeon that leads a team that does hip and knee replacements. Expanding the mission’s services to include dentistry, the team has the privilege in bringing down dental students, pre-dental students, dental hygiene students and each year mentoring up to 10 local Ecuadorian dental students when we are there.
Dr. Van Berkel and his wife Jo enjoy golfing, biking, life at the lake and in the winter, skiing and travelling. They enjoy watching and supporting their 4 children, 4 grandchildren (and counting) in their activities - sporting and otherwise. Dr. Van Berkel and family maintain volunteering in many capacities in church and community.
Dr. Martha Knopp is an Edmonton general dentist who graduated from the Universite de Montreal with her DMD.
She had joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was posted to Lahr Germany for 4 years. She was attached to an armoured unit there.
After her service time, Dr. Knopp moved to Edmonton to join her husband who was working with the tactical Helicopter squadron at CFB Edmonton. She joined Dr. Van Berkel and Associates and also worked part time at the Boyle Mccauley Dental Clinic in Edmonton’s inner city.
Dr. Knopp did the FORCE orthodontic course to increase her capacities in orthodontics and the lumineer course for conservative veneers a few years later. She is certified in nitrous oxide sedation since she treats a lot of children. She frequently uses oral sedation for anxious patients and offers evening and Saturday hours. She has successfully completed her Botox level 2 and 3 courses.
Dr. Knopp has volunteered in Haiti for a few dental missions and is fluent in French and German.
Dr. Knopp is married and enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 children hiking, biking, travelling, and volunteering at her church and children’s school.
